The Simple Life

Tonight is the premiere of Fox's new series, The Simple Life, starring Paris Hilton.

One of my jobs, here at our local Fox station, is to prepare "prime tags". These range from five to sixty seconds in length, and are simply little commercials that promote Fox prime time lineup. Needless to say, I've been doing prime tags for The Simple Life for a couple of weeks now. One of the things about prime tags, is that they're always ready for air the day before they air. So, Tuesday's are ready on Monday, Wednesday's are ready on Tuesday, et cetera. We usually get them a few days before they air via satellite.

So why is this important?

The Simple Life premieres tonight, Tuesday. In preparing the prime tags for Wednesday, more Simple Life tags were requested. The announcer calls The Simple Life, Fox's "hot new show that everyone's talking about." But it hasn't aired yet! Moreover, the script for that spot would have been written at least a few days ago! Perhaps even a week or more!
