Friday Funday CCXXIII

Friday Funday brings you some fun and interesting links from my travels around the internet. Funday links will open in a new window.

Wassup 2008 [del.icio.us]

You’ve probably already seen this by now, since every blog except mine has linked to it, but this is a new, 2008 version of the infamous Wassup video. It even features the original cast!

Swan Lake – Zeno Music Visualiser [del.icio.us]

The Waltz from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake suite as rendered by the Zeno Music Visualiser. The visuals for this video are completely computer generated.

Between The Seconds [del.icio.us]

Pictures from the moments between the seconds.

David Blaine Street Magic: YouTube Edition! [del.icio.us]

We’ve all seen David Blaine doing his street magic. You may have even seen the videos on YouTube, like I did. Here’s a little spoof of those videos. If you like this one, be sure to check out part 2 and part 3.

Totally Looks Like [del.icio.us]

From the I Can Has Cheezburger family comes Totally Looks Like. Some of these are dead-on.

XM Wild Ride [del.icio.us]

A neat little Flash ad where you control a car with a hippo and a giraffe, listen to some cool music, and play some goofy games.

St. Louis Fire Department Engine Crash [del.icio.us]

Since I saw this on the news, chances are you’ve already seen it too, but in case you haven’t, it’s freakin’ awesome. What I want to know is, did the other fire engine stop to help, or keep going to the house fire? Full story here.

The Fly and The Eye [del.icio.us]

This surreal short is a “viral ad” for Black Thinking, a new clothing line.

Scarlet Takes A Tumble [del.icio.us]

To say that Scarlet, the woman in this video, takes a tumble is putting it mildly. Scarlet falls on her ass. The first couple of minutes are boring (and frankly, kind of annoying). Skip ahead to about 2:40 to see the action.

Hollywood Director Attack Ads [del.icio.us]

The premise of this video is, “John McCain turns to famous Hollywood directors for help with his attack ads.” The last one is done in the style of Wes Anderson, and whoever directed this absolutely nailed it. I nearly exploded at work from holding back the laughter. Via Mike.

Breathing Again

Internet access has been hooked up at the house. Life can resume as normal.

HMS Hood [del.icio.us]

A 20 foot long model of the HMS Hood done in Legos. The size and attention to detail are impressive.

Who Put this Dick on My Back? [del.icio.us]

Subtle, but clever.

Cat Flushing A Toilet Music Video [del.icio.us]

Title says it all.

Hunting with Palin [del.icio.us]

Set in Alaska, this Flash game has you hunting moose, wolves, and Russians. There’s also a bonus “aerial hunting” round!

Palin as President [del.icio.us]

A terrifying look into a future that I can only hope doesn’t come true.

Been A Long Time

It has been almost a month since I wrote a real blog post (longer, depending on your definition of a “real post”), so I wanted to take a moment to write.

Closing on the house went smoothly, and we moved in last weekend. A lot of people have been asking us how living in the house has been — it’s great! We love having more than one room and the cat is starting to get comfortable with the new surroundings. The worst part is that we don’t know where anything is, and most of our stuff is still in boxes. Also, we don’t won’t have access to the Internet until Saturday, which is slowly killing me (it’s also part of the reason I haven’t posted anything until now).

I’ll be doing another video blog in the not-too-distant future to show you the house, and once things settle down a bit, I’ll be keeping track of Morah and my efforts to live greener lifestyles over at The Brown Green Project.

The previous owners of the house are fantastic. Not only did they take excellent care of the house, but they sent us a 2-page, handwritten document with tips and suggestions for taking care of the house and yard. It’s clear that they want us to take really good care of the house, and we’re disappointed that we never got to meet them (they were already living out-of-state when we started house-hunting).

Because they did such a great job taking care of the house, there really isn’t a whole lot of work that needs to be done. There are, of course, a few things that we’re customizing, but overall, we’re just going to leave things the way they are for the time being.

I wish I could say that posting will soon be more frequent, but we still have a ton of boxes to unpack and stuff to put away. Plus, there are a few updates around the house that we’d like to make, so all that will take up the majority of my time for a while.

BP Explorer [del.icio.us]

Despite the limited hours of use (9 A.M. to 9 P.M. in Australia) and the annoying sound effects, controlling a little vehicle with a camera on it over the Internet is pretty freakin’ sweet.

Papervision3D [del.icio.us]

A 3D underwater scene done in Flash. In Flash, people!

I Love Progress Bars [del.icio.us]

This guys makes a good point. Via Emily.

Take On Me: Literal Video Version [del.icio.us]

This video always was kind of weird. And the girl still doesn’t pay for her food!

7-35 In The Morning [del.icio.us]

Any attempt to describe this would only ruin it.

Red links are not safe for work.

Diesel SFW XXX [del.icio.us]

You’ve probably already seen this (I knew I should have posted this last week), but look! It’s safe-for-work porn! (Porn may not be safe for work)

Sarah Palin Disney Trailer [del.icio.us]

“An Alaskan hockey mom becomes Vice President in the wackiest family comedy of the year! Sound familiar?”

monkey’s butt is red [del.icio.us]

This popped up on BoingBoing a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was cool, so here it is for those of you who don’t read BoingBoing (what’s wrong with you?).

Devendra Banhart – Carmensita [del.icio.us]

This is officially the most awesome music video I’ve ever seen.

Wario Land: Shake It [del.icio.us]

This is what advertising needs to do to get our attention. It’s fairly subtle at first, and just when you’re thinking, “wait… How did they-” it all becomes clear. I can’t even imagine how much this must have cost Nintendo.
