Friday Funday brings you some fun and interesting links from my travels around the internet. Funday links will open in a new window.

Waterbed Prank []

Those wacky Germans! I’m surprised at how well everyone reacts. If it were me, I probably would have been pretty upset.

The Soup: iPhone []

A little late, but it made me laugh.

Japanese Tetris []

I love Japanese television. I would love to create an American morning show that’s similar to Japanese morning shows.

Orb []

This game is pretty simple, you just have to convince the little orbs to collide with the blocks. Just be sure you don’t touch the orbs. Or the blocks.

Shuffle []

Just knock all of the yellow balls off of the board. This game is easy to learn, but tricky to master.

  1. Shuffle: 39590, 15 rounds, 3 games.

    iPhone: Even later

  2. Oh my gosh! Phoenix posted a link in his comment and it didn’t get marked as spam! Perhaps my spam filter is finally catching on!

I remember seeing that Conan iPhone clip a while back. I had forgotten about it until a couple of days ago when someone brought it up in a conversation.

  3. I was thinking about it the other day when it came up in a conversation between me and K. (Have I mentioned how much the iPhone hype is teased over here?) Your link reminded me to go look for it.

    Also, iSmudginator.

  4. I don’t think you’ve mentioned it, but I’ve heard that everyone in Japan is like, “yeah, so?”

    The iSmudginator is pretty funny.

  5. It’s a bit worse than just “Yeah, so?” over here. The hype around the iPhone is actively mocked.

“It’s just a PHONE! Are you Americans going to be like this for everything? (pulls out lighter) ‘Ooooo! Fire! Amazing! How does he do it?’ Baka.

Bear in mind that the phones over here will record over-the-air HDTV and save it to the phone (like a Tivo) so you can watch it later on the train. In widescreen. No joke.

    It’s not kuactet-level mocked (yet).

    void Explain(n kuaktet)

kuactet, if you don’t know, is the 50 reasons the iPhone sucks and 50 more reasons to continue not getting one guy.

Some reviewers have commented that the iPhone is a sexy machine. Clearly, they have never felt a woman.

Six. Hundred. Dollars. Six hundred frog-skins. Six hundred smackaroos. Six hundred burgers from McDonald’s. You know how many that is? Let me put it this way: if you were to stack them one on top of the other, they would form a burger-tower 600 burgers high.

For the record, I LIKE the iPhone, or at least I like the idea of it. I won’t be buying a G1 iPhone (or G1 anything tech-related for that matter); I can wait to see what improvements will come.

Does anyone else remember the G1 iPod? It was pretty crappy. Taco gets a lot of flack for his Slashdot article about it being lame compared to a Nomad, but it WAS, at the time. People look at current iPods and wonder “How could he have thought this was lame?” Yeah, completely different product. The iPhone has a lot of downsides that I hope will be corrected/improved in the next generation.

In the meantime, I’m looking at the development of the OpenMoko platform. Like the iPhone, it’s not at a state where I’d buy one just yet, but maybe someday…

I’m giving up my mobile when I leave Japan (soon….soon….) and I probably won’t replace it in the immediate future. I’m going back to university, I’ll be living on campus, and working on campus on the weekends. I’m not going to be MOBILE enough to need a mobile phone. But maybe in a year or so.

  6. *sigh*

Why do I make long comments on other journals instead of writing posts on my own journal? It does NOT MAKE SENSE.

  7. Also, does the spam filter eat my markup? Is bold not supported? Should I switch to strong?

  8. It’s not that the spam filter doesn’t like your markup, it’s that you entered several links. MovableType won’t let me add you to a list of “trusted commenters” without having you sign up for a TypeKey (or similar) account. There might be some sort of plugin that will allow to me add trusted commenters via their e-mail addresses, but then spammers would just have to spoof your e-mail address in order to sneak it through.

Also, it appears that the bold tag is not in my allowed markup list. Hmm.

  9. I have a TypeKey account. Where is the login link?

  10. There might be some sort of plugin that will allow to me add trusted commenters via their e-mail addresses, but then spammers would just have to spoof your e-mail address in order to sneak it through.

How are they going to do that?

    Your E-mail (never made public)

  11. I never said it would be easy…

And there is a plugin. I’m experimenting with it, so hopefully it will work out.
