I bit my tongue really hard last night. Harder than I ever have before. So hard, in fact, that my teeth punctured the skin and I can see blood in three places on top (and I think there’s at least one spot on the bottom).

Thankfully it’s not actively bleeding, there’s just blood where the cuts are. And, much to my surprise and relief, it doesn’t sting or hurt much (unless I bump the cuts against my teeth, which I do quite frequently, of course).

I was surprised at how hard I bit myself. It was hard enough for me to hear the soft crunch of raw flesh. I don’t mean hear it like I hear someone’s voice when they talk to me. I mean hear it like when you’re eating potato chips. The kind of “hear it” that you hear through your jaw bone. It was pretty gross.

I can’t figure out what my tongue was doing between my teeth in the first place. This isn’t one of those, “nipped the edge” type of bites. I really crunched down in the middle of my tongue.

  1. Ouch. That made my stomach turn just reading about it. Hope it heals fast.

I do this all the time, especially when I’m eating snacks/chips. I don’t know if you’ve seen my teeth (here is a recent photo), but they’re big and shark.

I also often bite my cheeks, and lips. It’s like I got a mouth full o’ razor blades with these teeth. It’s crazy. I’m always bleeding. I almost wish that was a fetish or something, so I could enjoy my suffering. šŸ™

I bit my lip two days ago (bottom, left) and then again yesterday (top, right). Today should be interesting.

I keep re-biting the same areas because they’re swollen. The swelling would go down if I could stop biting them, but…

You say it doesn’t sting? Are you a hot coffee drinker? That’s what does it for me. I could give up the coffee … now wait, that sentence doesn’t make any sense. Give UP coffee? ME? I think I prefer the stinging.

“big and shark” should probably be “big and sharp”. For the record, I haven’t had my morning coffee yet.
